Pre-Order Fiber in Color September 2021: Coco Collection
Hispanic Heritage month is Sept 15-Oct 15 and Lauren from Treehouse Knits has dyed a gorgeous collection of yarns inspired by the movie Coco in honor of her Mexican heritage to celebrate! The movie is set just before Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and is the story of a boy named Miguel who accidentally crosses into the spirit world and reconnects with his family and learns some long buried secrets. Along the way he learns the importance of family, remembering, and that things aren’t always what they appear.
Lauren is doing a whole (beautiful) Coco collection and these two colors are just the tip of the iceberg. The main color is called Land of the Living and is a variegated cream base with painted sections of rich orange and bright magenta faintly speckled with indigo and coffee colored dots. This color is inspired by the bright flowers that are used to decorate ofrendas that display pictures of family members that have passed on. The tonal paired with it is called Carnation and is the magenta seen in the other skein but on a super soft suri aplaca/silk base.
Along with a pair of skeins, each package will also have a few pieces of Mexican candy that I love to make this happy mail that much sweeter!
