Fiber in Color is a monthly curated selection of fine hand dyed fibers from talented Black, Indigenous, and makers of color across America.

Naima Bond of Sister Ananse's Yarn and Tammi Williams of Yarn & Whiskey have teamed up with Fiber in Color to create another beautiful yarn & project bag combo!

This exclusive offering is in honor of Juneteenth, an American holiday celebrating the day the last enslaved people in Texas learned that they were no longer in bondage on June 19, 1865. Naima has dyed a Kente cloth inspired yarn called 40 Acres and a coordinating mini called Mule in commemoration of the 40 acres and a mule promised to freed people, but never fulfilled. 40 Acres is a 100g skein is 75/25 merino and nylon blend in a yellow base with speckles of red, green, blue, with 437 yards. Mule is the coordinating 90 yard mini skein in a tonal crimson for heels, cuffs, and toes but you can do what you want with it! Maybe a sock with bobbles, or a few stripes--let the yarn lead you and make what you like with it.

Along with this sock set, Tammi from Yarn&Whiskey has created a coordinating project bag to hold your goodies! It is a 100% cotton is a 12 x 11.5, fully lined cotton Ankara print drawstring project bag with a black waxed cotton cord.

This order will ship in early June, so you'll have plenty of time to celebrate with your yarn when the day comes! This ships  in a compostable mailer you are encouraged to re-use or compost. To compost you can just cut off the shipping label and toss the rest in with your regular compost and let nature do the rest!
